It was a bit of a let down for Motorola DROID Turbo owners, who discovered that there is currently no fixed rollout date for the phone’s upgrade to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, differs from previous knowledge. That being said, we heard that Lollipop is rolling out on Verizon to the budget-end Moto E, and now we have news that Lollipop testing has started for the Moto X 1st generation. If project planning well and no big issues are found, it should start rolling out in about a week. The phone owners have been waiting for this major expansion for a long time.
The upgrade is now hitting around 209 MB in size for users who have enrolled to participate in the country’s pre-release device testing for Moto E (1st Gen). If you have engaged in the Moto E soak test update for Android 5.0.2, your handset will move from v4.4 straight to Android 5.1.
For the Moto X Lollipop update, Motorola started TestDrive earlier in May, a program through which it tests early software with a limited number of select system owners who have agreed to participate, and admits dissatisfaction with the slow release, attributing it to “the lack of support from some of our partners.”
