There were several problems with Snapdragon 801 and Snapdragon 810, including heating. It used to heat up to 50oC, which is a little more than it should have been. Qualcomm has not revealed the explanation for this. Qualcomm is now doing some tests with the Snapdragon 801, 810 and the new 815 for the heating issue. This means that there will be far less sun. The results show that the Snapdragon 815 is also cooler than the Snapdragon 801 and 810, indicating that it is strong and designed to be cooler than its predecessors at the same time.
The study was applied with an airborne Asphalt 8, a graphic-intensive game, and it simply proves that Snapdragon 815 is much better.
What we’re seeing in the performance, Snapdragon 815 achieved a max temperature of 38 degrees, which is very poor compared to Snapdragon 801 42 degrees and Snapdragon 810 44 degrees.
We can infer that Qualcomm’s latest choice of architecture is correct and the Snapdragon 815-based devices will be much cooler than the Snapdragon 810 and 801 devices we have now on the marketplace.
These units had only some sensors that were used to play the above mentioned games, so the actual unit could have a slightly wider temperature, but they would be cooler than the Snapdragon 801 & 810 featuring handsets. All three devices were built for the trials and they did not have any cellular antennas or any wifi antenna.
