Looking Beyond the Cloud: What is Next for the Digital Age

There appears to be an obsession to bring in the replacement for the Digital Age when it seems to be in its infancy and a number of opinions have been voiced over the last couple of years. It’s not that digital is over, it is that it is everywhere, said Paul Daugherty, Accenture’s chief technology and innovation officer in 2019.  Last year companies spent $1.1 trillion on digital transformation. Some 94 percent of companies say they have digital strategies in place. Many are developing omnichannel platforms. So, what we are saying about the post-digital era is that there is a new set of forces coming? Companies are going to need a new set of strategies because what they are doing now is not enough anymore.

Changing Tech

Technology is moving from something we use to becoming who we are. Companies have to recognize that trust is the key differential. In the future, only those companies that have built trust will succeed. Trust will become the ultimate currency in the post-digital era.

Individualization is very powerful but very scary to consumers too. Any business that steps out of line and breaches that trust, will lose. Human civilization has evolved on the basis of the question ‘how do we use this new technology to improve our lives.

Daugherty is convinced that A888 I999 (AI) is the future of the globe. The reality here too is that AI has the potential to create new industries, new jobs, and new opportunities. It’s not a lack of new jobs that will be the problem, it’s the lack of skills. We are not preparing people fast enough for the new jobs that are coming.

The immediate problem appears to be that companies have not invested sufficiently in technology, talent, and trust, Daugherty explained.

Tech Revolution

This is a technology-driven revolution. Talent means focusing not just on tech talent, but on the workforce as a whole. Every employee is going to change, and the job market is not going to create the skills they need, so companies will have to do it for themselves.

Revenues are often held up as exemplars to revenue authorities in other countries. Most recently the VDA pilot won the award for the best use of artificial intelligence in Government at the prestigious CogX Festival in London.

David Kirwan head of Accenture Technology, Ireland sums up the challenges. All clients know they need to be doing stuff in this space. The challenge is, how do they know which technology to go with and which is the most relevant use case to pick, the one that allows them to get the most value from the investment

We have found there are a lot of managed IT services in London that will provide additional support for comprehensive solutions including, web development, security services, IT consulting, business SME applications, and more.  Secure data control systems enable businesses to manage business information and customer information, monitor financial information, counting and software solutions that suit each individual company.

Technology changes quickly and a lot of companies are looking to cut costs and streamline their IT departments. Solutions are needed for companies, many of whom see their requirements as unique with accounting software solutions and customer relationship management software. A whole host of costs are involved and often needed to be cut in IT where labor, network infrastructure, maintenance costs, software and hardware costs are closely examined. On the other hand, lack of investment in software can prove to be costly. Managed IT services provide the flexibility that in-house teams cannot provide. IT services are key to cost-effectiveness.
